LINKS WITH ST.MARY’S CHURCH, HAMPSTEAD NORREYS
As a school we have strong links with St Mary’s Church in Hamptead Norreys. Reverend Nicola plays an active role in the life of the school – she plans and leads collective worship on a Monday. Our previous Rev – Reverend Renee – also continues to come to school once a week to hear readers.
We visit the church at various times of the year, including Harvest, Christmas, Easter and our end of year leavers service. We welcome our families and wider community to these services!

Message from (Rev) Renée Coulson
I am a retired priest, with experience also in secretarial, administration and para-legal fields while in secular employment. I moved to Hampstead Norreys in June 2020 to be nearer my family. Both my grandchildren attended the village school for their primary education: Charlotte left in June 2022, on change of school at age 11.
In my priestly role I served as school governor for some years, and attended schools local to where I lived, to assist with assemblies – eg those based on “Open the Book” (a Bible-based series for young people), and other resources. I have assisted with the “Messy Church” programme, Sunday Schools and, of course, family-friendly worship. (A Christmas nativity, held in the Vicarage Garden in one parish – in the snow – stands out as a particularly joyful event.)
During all that time I liaised with headteachers to facilitate school services held in church buildings to celebrate various festivals during the Church year (eg Easter, Pentecost, Advent, etc), as well as the important times in the school year (eg leavers’ assembly).
It has been a particular joy to be invited by the current headteacher to play a part in the life of our local village school here in Hampstead Norreys. My presence there, as a member of our Hermitage ministry team, has been welcomed and encouraged (which hasn’t always been the case in other schools!) Since my involvement I have been appointed an honorary member of the Little Oaks committee, visited the school regularly to listen to the students read and attended as many school events as possible. My aim is to continue to support the school (staff, pupils and parents) in any and every way possible – hopefully for many years to come – to enable it to maintain and build upon the excellent standards it has already achieved as members of our Christian community.
